A Healthy Conversation–Top 3 Reasons People Don’t Lose Weight

As we head into a new year, we are sharing some timely words from a classic Healthy Conversation with Donna and John.  Today you get to be a fly on the wall and listen to a Healthy Conversation between Donna & John. DONNA:                     Hey there welcome to another Healthy Conversation. So we’re going to pick up where we left off last week except —

JOHN:                         No dog.

DONNA:                     I don’t have the dog. I put the dog on the floor.

JOHN:                         Thank you, yes.

DONNA:                     Because I’ve got to, you know, keep him happy so the dog is now on the floor. So last week we knew we were going to be heading into a new year so we were talking about the top three goals set or resolutions or whatever folks want to call them, changes they’re going to make. And the reason we said top three is because whether it’s 20, 30, 80 it’s always three: It’s always health, time and money. People want to have better health, they want to have more time and they want to get a handle on their financial situation.

So what we were talking about were changes that people could make to lose weight, because that’s a big one, right? And you were talking about simple things. What were they? Uh, cutting out a pop?

JOHN:                         Cutting out a pop every day. Walking a little bit farther in the parking lot.

DONNA:                     Right.

JOHN:                         You know I don’t know if you’ve noticed – I mean I’ve noticed it in the last probably ten, fifteen years people want things a lot quicker than they used to.

DONNA:                     Yeah, yeah drive through society I think is what people call it.

JOHN:                         Yeah, exactly.

DONNA:                     So the ideas we were talking about last week are slow and steady wins the race and there’s also —

JOHN:                         But a lot of times that’s after you’ve —

DONNA:                     I need it now, right?

JOHN:                         Yes, exactly.

DONNA:                     So today we want to talk about why can’t people stick to an eating plan? Because you know what, it’s hard. I mean you get it all the time with your customers, “I can’t do that.”

JOHN:                         Well they can’t even take a vitamin twice a day, that’s the thing that frustrating.

DONNA:                     I mean they’ll say to you, “Oh I can’t do that. I can’t take two vitamins a day.” Right?

JOHN:                         It’s the simplest thing in the world.

DONNA:                     Yeah but for you, but for some folks it’s tough and it’s tough for a lot of folks to stick to an eating plan. Most everybody it’s tough to stick to an eating plan. So today we’re going to talk about the top three reasons it’s tough to stick to an eating plan. It’s very simple: The results don’t come fast enough so you get discouraged. The results are not rewarding enough, meaning, “I don’t feel different or I don’t see it in me.” “People aren’t commenting or I’m not behaving differently.” “The results are not noticeable enough.” And then quite frankly sometimes people are hungry.

People just stop following a plan because they’re hungry. So with the Thin and Healthy Total Solution Program that we’ve had for years people aren’t hungry. They’re not hungry but the results are not necessarily fast. The rewards are there, the health benefits are there, but because the weight loss results aren’t fast the rewards come later.

JOHN:                         Motivation’s a little bit slower.

DONNA:                     A little bit slower, yeah. And there are programs out there where it is fast, like a lot of shake programs out there that are wonderful, good for you, but you’re hungry. You have folks come into the store to talk about —

JOHN:                         You’re not eating real food though, that’s the problem I think most of the time. You know one of the huge things that I think this program does it is forcing the body to burn fat.

DONNA:                     The 20/30 Program you’re talking about?

JOHN:                         20/30 Program.

DONNA:                     Okay.

JOHN:                         And that’s where people just get blown away, they can’t believe I’m losing a half a pound or a pound a day and wow, they just can’t believe the results they’re getting.

DONNA:                     So let’s back up for a second because I went looking. We had Thin and Healthy Total Solution which was a good steady loss, you weren’t hungry, you became very healthy, but it was slower. And like we’re talking about there is a drive through society. You want to pick her up don’t you?

JOHN:                         No, no it’s fine.

DONNA:                     I can’t tell, she’s down there and he wants to pick her up. Did you see him look down at her? Yeah, she’s giving him the paw right now. People wanted results quickly, there certainly seemed to be a lot of options out there for fast loss and there certainly seem to be a lot of options out there for fast loss that was very healthy. So I decided to start researching and start digging and what I discovered as I started researching fast loss was the hormone thing. That’s been —

JOHN:                         Huge, yeah.

DONNA:                     I mean the biggest thing that has changed everything for how you and I see weight loss and that’s that there is a way that you can lose weight very fast, a pound a day. Definitely a pound a day if you’re a guy, at least a half a pound a day if you’re a gal. Sometimes a pound a day if you’re a gal. With this loss the rewards that you see are amazing. No acid reflux after less than a week.

JOHN:                         High blood pressure starts —

DONNA:                     Gone.

JOHN:                         Yeah.

DONNA:                     Like blood pressures stabilized. No thyroid problems. Blood sugar completely stabilized, off of insulin completely. I’m trying to think – Oh sleep! Sleeping through the night very soundly. No night sweats, no hot flashes. The aches, the inflammation. The aches and pains just gone. You told me about a customer that came in the other day.

JOHN:                         Well a couple of customers as a matter of fact. I had one that came in, she lost about 22 or 23 pounds —

DONNA:                     In 30 days.

JOHN:                         In 30 days. And she was just still scratching her head how she did it. She wasn’t hungry and she felt great and she was off the meds. And boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. I said, “Okay, great.” And then you hear another one come in, I think this one was a guy and I think he lost about 18 or 19 pounds, something like that in the same amount of time.

DONNA:                     Uh-huh.

JOHN:                         Now we’re hearing the same story over and over and over again. So it’s a lot of common side effects, which are great side effects.

DONNA:                     Yeah, the rewards.

JOHN:                         Exactly.

DONNA:                     Yeah. Yeah. So 20 pounds in 30 days. Health benefits through the roof and quick and not hungry.

JOHN:                         I think when you get in the mode it’s very, very appealing when you get on that scale and “Oh, I’m down another pound.”

DONNA:                     Because it’s a motivator that’s what numbers have told us.

JOHN:                         Exactly.

DONNA:                     That they get on the scale, something they’ve dreaded their whole life, now they can’t wait to get on the scale every morning because they’re losing every single day. Again, I get revved up about this because now we’ve got distributors around the country and now they’re just feeding us back these words, these same words that, “Oh my gosh this is happening. That’s happening” and it’s the same everywhere.

JOHN:                         I think that’s kind of what sabotages a lot of programs that you just don’t lose fast enough.

DONNA:                     I think.

JOHN:                         The motivation just isn’t there.

DONNA:                     That’s what I think. I think when you get that reward quickly, you’re motivated to stay there and keep going and then ultimately have a healthy life style which again, is one of the big goals when you’re headed into the year.
